Settling back to Real Life

Hello Web-o-drome!
I've really been procrastinating on uploading the Paris photos. My bad. Maybe I'll swing by the pub tomorrow afternoon (and all our evangelly readers just did a big sharp gasp: Booze!? On the Sabbath!?) to sip an obligatory half pint while I use up all their bandwidth for an hour or two. As a consequence of this procrastination, I've also been kindof e-avoiding the blog. The way you try to avoid a friend when you know you need to apologise for something. Or the way you avoid a professor when you haven't handed in yesterday's term paper yet. Sorry for ducking you, everyone. The photos from Paris will come when they come.
Life back in London town, in the wake of our big and exciting holiday adventure is finally starting to stabilize. We got some work this week; enough for our needs but a little less than we would like for travelling. And we've already got our next plane tickets; 5ish days in Athens four weeks from now! Whoo!
One of the unfortunate side effects of having had a couple workless days this week is we're feeling a little like we don't have much to do. Laying around and relaxing after working hard is always nice for a couple days, but chilling out after already being on vacation 3 weeks is a bit like that extra hour you sleep in on a day off after you already were pretty much awake; you didn't really need it to feel more rested and all it really gave you is a headache and a guilty feeling about all the stuff you could have done if you'd just gotten on with your day. So we've taken some walks, and we're planning on hitting church twice tomorrow to make up for two weeks out of church, which has taken its toll on us too. Plan is to go downtown to Nicky Gumble's (i.e. the creator of the Alpha Course) church, Holy Trinity Brompton.
We were in town last week, of course, but we weren't in church because our home group was on duty at Night Shelter cooking dinner and getting everything set up for about 15 homeless men who need cold weather shelters and a warm meal. It's a really cool ministry; the area churches each take one day of the week and the same guests are registered going in each day to each church. Alyssa and I brought the rice and frozen peas, 'cause we're culinary geniuses. It was really cool to do some ministry, and kindof fun for that to be the first day back with our church family, but two weeks is a long time to be out of church. So tomorrow's going to be a welcome breath of fresh air.
There's really not all that much to report just yet, and I pledge to explain the Paris trip in thrilling detail when I get to the photos (I really do think I'll try tomorrow. Unless I'm tired. Or if we spend the afternoon walking the parks near HTB and being couple-y and adorable). Please continue to pray for us; that work would pick up; that we'd get enough under us before Greece, and that we'd be able to make the time we need to unwind and focus on God and us once we get proper busy.
As always, this is a two-way street. If there are ways we can be praying for you, or just news to unload (however mundane), drop either of us a line. Cheers, and God bless!
